I really like this feeder - well made. I use it for my bird’s chop, not seed, so it’s difficult to clean for sure. My bird took to it immediately. I lost my grip on it when I was putting it on my birds cage and it broke when it hit the floor. Ugh. It’s so expensive and hard to clean, I’m looking for an alternative before ordering a replacement.This feeder was just what I was looking for..my finches can't make the seed mess with this feeder and they really like it:)The small one works great for parakeets. There are two compartments. One under the perch and one in front of the perch where the seed is placed. They are separated by a piece of plexiglass. Seed from the front compartment gets tossed into the compartment under the perch. The perch is positioned in the center of the compartment making it difficult (space wise) for the birds to get to the seed tossed under the perch. I had my husband drill holes closer to the opening and we moved the perch closer to the opening so there is enough space for the birds to get to the seed under the perch. Now it works perfectly. Thinking about getting another one for my boy birds.My cockatiel absolutely loves this feeder. He never wants to get out of it lol. As soon as we put him back in his cage he goes straight to this feeder. He refuses to eat out of his other boring bowls now. Definitely recommend! I will be buying a second one to replace the lower bowl feeder as well. And the best part…. NO MORE SEEDS ON THE FLOOR!!!☺️?These are great for containing messes. Very sturdy construction.My only gripe is they are extremely difficult to clean, would be good if you could detach the top for cleaning but since the acrylic is all one piece, you can’t. My parakeets sometimes leave droppings in the feeder, and the pellets I fill the feeder with are a bit oily, so it’s hard to get your hand into the compartments and really wipe out the feeder, and if you rinse it out with water, it takes a very long time for the feeder to thoroughly dry out. A detachable top would solve these issues.This is a truly revolutionary feeder. I was having to vacuum every day because my cockatiel decides to launch her seeds into the floor. This almost entirely eliminates the mess!It did take her a few days to get used to, but I put some high-value treats in the feeder and she soon learned that the big scary box wasn’t actually so scary :)Depending on your bird’s stride length (aka how far their little legs can reach), you can move the perch part forwards or backwards accordingly.It is a little annoying to clean, but the mess-free environment makes the small amount of effort that goes into cleaning it so worth it!!Highly recommend for any bird parents who are frustrated with the mess!I have 2 cockatiels that share a big cage ? They are notorious for making a huge seed mess when they eat! I knew there had to be a solution so when I saw this feeder, I figured I'd give it a try!? It works like a charm! It took the birds a few minutes to figure out how to actually get in the box and reach the food, but with a little encouragement & some treats, they got it! ? The seed mess all over my floor is drastically reduced. It's a tight fit, & only 1 bird can eat at a time, but it’s no big deal! I do wish it was slightly bigger, but we've had it a couple weeks now and they don’t seem to mind. I wouldn't use this for anything bigger than a cockatiel though! A bigger Bird would struggle to get in and out of the feeding area!This bird feeder is exceptionally sturdy. My bird was throwing his seed out his cup of was wasting food. This was a little expensive but was of high quality and fit my purpose.Hooks are not the same as pictures show. It comes with very poor quality hooks that do not screw all the way in and break from normal use. Mine broke with half the screw inside so it is impossible to replace the hardware. Could potentially be dangerous if feeder breaks with your parrot inside. Do not recommend!
